OEMC Awards.

Today, OEMC held its first awards ceremony in what, 2 years? 3 years? They used to have an "Employee of the Month" ceremony once a month. What's next, "Employee of the Decade" because that's how frequently awards will be given?

Most of the awards went to 2nd Watch employees. Apparently no other watch does as much work or matters as much. And many people, unless we need some correction or clarification, are still in awe at the fact that the Training staff all received awards, apparently for training employees.

Mind you, no bones are being made about the fact that OEMC finally decided to recognize some of its Ops Floor workers for their work. And in that aspect, congratulations are in order for award recipients.

But is there some big picture the little people are failing to see? Or should it be as plain as day?

yes, but it's ridiculous that people are getting awards for "doing their job" not going above and beyond..or doing something extra...just simply doing what they are suppossed to do..2 dispatchers on the 2nd watch got an award because an officer called in shots fired and they 1. Figured out who it was and 2. Cleared the air.......well???? what the hell else were they supposed to do. Also 3 2nd watch supervisors got an award for working on the 3rd and 4th of July and keeping call efficiency to 98 % and 99 % respectively. What the hell does any supervisor have to do with call efficiency?? They for damn sure aren't taking any calls. And lastly, 2 2nd watch dispatchers got an award for ....get this............cleaning out the refrigerators..Anybody who actually gets up to accept that award is an idiot.

Well we all know 3 rd dogs are just that, feed us a bisket aka hotdog, and we should feel blessed. 1st watch isn't far behind. They just don't get the handout hotdog.

By the way we are at Orange alert now. Have been for well over an hour, just take a gander across the room and see ZERO homeland security check collectors, heck for that matter, don't even inform us. Thank goodness fire side has news on, word of mouth keeps us current, not the million dollar banner boards or fancy tv in the front of the room that CLTV must have donated.

Oh. My. God. Thank you for whoever is behind this blog, and please don't let it degenerate.

I worked em all on all zones (as I like to say twice a month on SCC), and there ain't nothing like 3rd watch. And there ain't nothing on 3rd watch like zone 6 (busy) and zone 10 (crazy). Or at least, thats the way it was!

So from me, mr. anonymous internet heroic super-duper-ex-dispatcher, I says "cheers" to y'all, and a big CHEERS to the workers on third watch.

Ain't no quicker way to an early funeral and even earlier wake.

a second watch call taker gets an award for cleaning out the frig, i guess the bosses are happy the call taker is actually doing some work instead of walking around all day and gossiping all day as this person always does. What a waste of the tax payers money, i guess everyone should have a high paid frig cleaner and breakfast cook.

That person has done us a favor, and given us a way to come together. You don't like it, LEAVE.

Now go crawl back up management's ass and rot.

In response to 4:46 A.M.'s comments......

You did NOT offer one solution or intelligent comment, just insults. And insults, in the absence of intelligence, are the product of a small mind, which accompanies small feet, small....

It is unfortunate that the people at oec of your ilk will do exactly as you stated, never go anywhere, and that means up or out. You'll just stay and infect the floor, never allowing anything to be fixed or finding any solution worthy. Leave is what you should do and leave as quickly as possible. There are plenty of places for you to go, but try to find a place where you can flourish. Go to www.kissmyass.com under the job announcement section and apply as a henchman for the devil at Armageddon. You'll be excellent. You will love the burn. I hope you are smart enough to feel this one!

Oh, BTW, if you think we can all come together under any forum as long as people like you are at oec, you ARE an idiot.

And, also BTW, I was off-duty and off the clock when I registered my comments. I doubt you were. 1st Watch sound familiar? Hiding in somebody's office and playing with the computer? Shame on you. Instead, try doing some work. It will keep your small mind busy and unable to engage your mouth for more bcm&w.

Now how about you say "10-99 squad" and crawl back to your snake pit before you embarass yourself further.

An award for working CW2???
How about a box of no-doze and a blanket? That position sees less action than a 40-year old virgin.

Regarding the Orange alerts, this applied to aviation, notifications were sent in the proper manner, if you weren't notified you didn't need to know, and we're not DHS, we're OEM, do some homework first, and yes we love our banners!!!!!!!

I remember an employee of the month award that was given out, check this, it was awarded to a dispatcher in training for pressing his uniform and shining his shoes everyday, shouldn't this be done anyway? interesting.

The OEMC IS A TOXIC place to work low moral is present among many not all employees. Look at your fellow co workers as they drag into work hatung their job but loving the money. So many say they hate people yet you work in public service. Supervisors have little do with the employees yet, if they did the employees would give tgem hell. Some call takers sleep at their consoles. Many unhappy souls and disgruntled employees grace the ops floor. Difficult individuals you have to work with as dispatchers to get the job done makes dispatching a drag. Union stewards with superior attitudes that get nothing done virtually become all talk and no action. The training department have some good trainers and some that lack drive to teach. SOP what is it because on the floor people do just what they want to do. There are some great people that work at the OEMC and they deserve to be recognized on a consistent regular basis. There are many opportunities for improvement. The hazing process that occurs for new hires makes it more difficult to bring in new staff especially when the training department half trains new staff. Directors walk the floor but in all reality they are distant and far removed from the pulse of the operation. Marco Polo....get on your best behavior.
