Goodbye.

According to NBC 5 News, Daley is pushing for Huberman to become the next CTA president, now that Frank Kruesi has announced his resignation. We assume that the rubber stamp known as the City Council would have to vote on it. We know how THAT would go.

At least in that capacity, all of you POs who'd be in an all new Hell if he became supt., and all of us PCOs who know he'd have a hand in the pot at OEC, can rest a bit more easily, although he might still meddle to some extent.

We still wonder, though: Would he still be on "active" status with the department, toting a gun and a "brass" star.

He has to be on a leave on absence with the CPD, and that leave has to be approved every year or two by the department. Being with OEMC, or the mayors chief of staff, or the CTA has nothing to do with his police career. His original leave should never been approved, and would not have been if he was a regular guy, because it had nothing to do with accepting another police related career.

But, this is Chicago, and the king makes his own rules. And he still may be the next Superintendant, if picked. If not, he has the CTA job with a fat salary and plenty of transportation, although I doubt he knows how to ride a bus or train, or how much the fare costs.

He is not entitled to carry a Gold Star or Firearm, but who knows, the CTA may make him a Special Police Officer per the mayors orders?

He is not on leave of absence. He has been detailed to OEMC, then the mayors office. Thats why he still carries (and flashes) his D/S badge and gun. Can CPD be detailed to CTA? If not theyll probably assign him to the public transit unit.

He should not be carrying a gun or that star if he is on a leave. If not for the mayor he would be jammed. Any other copper on a leave has to turn their star in. This city is a joke.
