Good News.

We're finally getting new consoles. After 12 years of the dusty, antiquated bullshit we've been accustomed to, replacement will begin within a few weeks, starting with the PCTs. No word on what the design will look like (of course noone would ask the people who actually have to live with the consoles 24/7/365). But how could it not be an improvement over what we have now?

Whooooo! New consoles, finally! Let's hope they are smaller, so more workstations can fit onto the ops floor. Not that we have enough bodies to SIT at the extra consoles, but one can HOPE that someday the 911 center will be adequately staffed.

Dam, I remember when the first civilian dispatcher hopefuls were being interviewed at communication room 11th and State and now the equipment is antiquated. This is not a judgement or snipe just time flies. Tempus Fucket

Mgt on days doesn't want us sleeping in the atrium. Wasn't that furniture put out there by Trotter so that we have some place to relax? Relax no longer means sleep? Shutting our eyes after staring a 3-5 computer screens for hours on end in the dark is not considered relaxing? Working 16 hr days to make up the manpower shortage and catching a cat nap is no longer considered relaxing? Our quiet room was converted to another office. It doesn't look good to have workers out there sleeping during business hours.. REally now, exactly who are the visitors we are trying to impress visiting? It's the cell of communications, shouldnt be tours on the ops floor, everyone else should be a city worker and understand our plight. So to mgt that is forcing me to go back out to sleep in my car again or on the locker room bench. Fuck you.

New screens so that you can see the cameras. Yippee, more to do.

we're going to be able to view the cameras ????
are they going to add more consoles to the Ops. floor??
are they going to add a 3rd person to each zone to take care of that task of watching those cameras, and eliminate the people in the OC who do that now ???

yeah right.

Off topic, what is the problem with the white squeaky voiced dispatcher on CW2 3rd watch. I remember when she worked zone 13 years ago, but jeez, she is the most mouthy miserable person I've ever heard on the radio. She has gone totally looney in the last few years. If I was one of the district cops asking for an E.T. or a body removal and I got her bitchy attitude and being yelled at like a kid, I'd have to come down to OEMC and choke her ass. Doesn't any one of your supervisors realize what a bitch she is on the air. I should say when shes not screaming she's on the land line teliing everyone in her snotty tone that she is on the phone. I could understand her on the phone every once in awhile, but every 2 minutes. All of the dispatchers, but her are great to deal with. Could someone slip a few gallons of Midol in her drink when she comes in. Don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt.

When is the GPS gonna start working? Its crap when you are going to a job and there's a car on the next block. I think it would be good to see who is close to a job. Instead of a car coming from 3-4 miles away.

She can't be as bad as the nasty attitude ass dispatcher on zone 8 (i think her name might be Sue or some shit) who i believe tag team with Ramona. Her ass thinks she is somebody's boss. She has the nerve to yell at P.O.'s. Yea i know some P.O's can be a hand full at times but her ass got some issues and she needs to calm her ass down.

Someone asked about the flag being flown at half-mast...

A new bill was passed for fallen officers and our military:

the bill mandates that the governor order flags to be flown at half-mast any time a law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty, and when a state resident is killed by hostile fire while serving in Iraq.

The flags would be flown at half-staff two days prior to the person's funeral and on the day of the actual funeral.

The flags have been at half mast for at least a week and a half. That isn't it.

Just making a comment about how miserable it is to deal with a small minority of dispatchers. Maybe they will get the hint or better yet how about we get them a personality for Christmas. I know if you say thanks or something nice to K.M. on CW2 all you get in response is dead air. By the way stand by, I'm on the phone again.

KM is a perfectly nice person, she just has no tolerance for stupid-acting people. Can't say I blame her!

If KM hates stupid acting people, she has hated herself since getting on the job. That is why years ago she was banished from the zone she was dispatching on to a CW zone.
