Here's an idea.

Since they're installing new consoles (although heaven only knows when they're going to start), we think they should be personalized. They probably won't switch over the bulk of what's currently on the consoles (This blog's ad magnets that noone ever notices, SOPs, various zone-specific notes, etc...).

We hope the new consoles are nice (although we maintain that anything's an improvement), but in an effort to make ourselves all feel more at home with decorations, we propose the installation of one of these on every brand new console.

Hell, we'll even pay the total cost out of pocket for them as a "public service." They should be installed at double-size on the calltaker side, since we're expected to be "customer service representatives" now.

LOL

When I worked as an emergency operator/dispatcher, our dimwit managers said we need MORE customer service. That we needed to add more 'positive' words such as "Great!" Fantastic!" "Super!"

So on my next call, I muted the caller and told my Supervisor that I had a dying cancer patient on the phone who could not breathe, which 'positive adjective' would be applicable in this situation!??!

How 'bout: "Great" news, if you can't breathe, you'll be out of your misery before the ambulance gets there.

I like signs that read:

"911....here to save your ass, not kiss it!!"

Can anyone explain what our new boss looks like? I guess not coming to rollcall and introducing yourself to the bloodline of the building is going to be precedent of what we can expect from the
"he's a nice guy" boss.
The only thing I know for sure about him currently is he's rude and insulting.
Shame on you boss if you're reading this.

How about chip holders and hand wipes for those who eat at the consoles. How about cockroach swatters for those that brought the roaches with them

i think we can only hope for something with less cracks and crevices for gunk and food to get stuck in..........and for the dispatcher consoles, can we at least be angled to face our partners......or be able to see them at all. it really would help.
