Imagine that

As of this writing, we're enjoying cool air conditioning, but we understand that 3rd Watch roll call got a little warm. Seems that a couple of supervisors' "people skills" (or lack thereof) were brought to the attention of the watch manager, and he plans to address said supervisors.

On that note, here's an open post to vent your gripes about problems or issues you've had with supervisors. No first and/or last names this time, please.

Positive experiences are welcome also, although they don't tend to be as amusing or entertaining.

Were the people complaining the same ones who are on constant foot patrol? Or the ones who take a 20 minute bathroom break so they won't have to take a shit or piss on there own break time? Or were they just the same people who take an unscheduled lunch and snack so they can be payed time and a half for working through their lunches and breaks.
I wish I had been there just to listen to the canines complain.
I for the most part think that most of the supervisors are capable.

Anyone on 3rd watch remember the roll call a couple years back (?) where KB stood at the podium to discuss employee performances and stated that we were doing a "sucky" job or a "lousy" job, or something along those lines. I can't remember the exact derogatory term she used, but I remember how much people grumbled afterward. It is just not nice to stand up and tell the watch that does 70% of the work in a 24 hr period (and who are busy from the moment they sit in the seats at 1350 hours until they leave at 2200 hours) that they are doing a "sucky" job. However, I do think her people skills have improved since then.

How about the morale crushing that happens everytime words come from the mouths of the female supervisor CW or the male supervisor SG, whether it be at roll call or any other time? They are so arrogant, condescending and half the time do not know what they are talking about anyway. Even though they are not on the same watch, observing them in action during changeover is like watching the goofiness on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody! Twins as dumb as fuck!

I agree with 1914 -- just about all the supervisors are doing a great job. They will go to bat for us and have tried to improve life for the employees. Changing the tv to sports games, more dress down days, and in general trying to make it as light and pleasant as it can be while still getting our work done. Despite the pressure they are under to keep our numbers and deal with those who take advantage of the system. I think there are a couple of supervisors who could stand improvement in the area of people skills, without a doubt. But don't throw the babies out with the bath water - and let this post become a rant that is undeserved for most of those holding that position.

I don't agree with your comments about cw and sg. i was one of the people who were not surprised but annoyed when they were promoted but i have to say that i think they have both earned their spot. unlike some others in that class, when they are asked a question they almost always know the answer and if not they will find out and get back to you. why dont we talk about the supervisor who told someone they had to put XX01 (the desk) down on something before she could put in a rap?

Yea we do get paid for working lunches and breaks and yes we do sneak our food in. Either volunteer
or get cancelled, what's the difference?
Today's roll call was ball busting, ct might as well of put out a big pitcher of kool aid for the conclusion. When we got to the ops floor kb was standing and blocking the door to the break room so we couldn't put our lunches in the refrigerator. Are we in grammer school? Maybe detention hall? The management is ball less on our watch and the other watches too. At what point do they all stick together and tell downtown stats people that they are expecting too much from our understaffed crew!? Don't believe the hype, they don't give a rat's a$$ about us.
Let's not forget tommorrow when we get beat down and scorn in rollcall to run upstairs and lite up the room when they ask people to volunteer to work lunch. (just like today) SHAME SHAME no unity or loyalty to ourselves or each other. We have only ourselves to blame.

Perhaps the canines ran to the canine handler and complained, "I didn't take this job so I would have to work, what you gonna do about it?". The best thing that happened to this watch is CT. If you can't respect his intelligence and effort that he puts in every day, then you have the problem. The supervisors have been instructed to do their jobs, and the mass of workers have complained that the supervisors should not treat the workers bluntly. I can see complaining about hearing the same story at roll call about "we know who you are and you know who you are so you better start watching what you do", then those people have a legitimate grip, but if its a canine who has been told to sit down, stop talking on your cell phone, or swallow what remains of your chicken leg before you start talking on the phone, then its the canine who should shut the F up and just do your job. But then LC would probably just go home because he doesn't feel good again.

Give them a break. The supervisors are only 1 step up from the Pcos in the shit pile here. Sure they are better paid but they take it up the #$% too, just in a different way. Many of them, and the supervisor wannabes, had/have good ideas about improving the morale, implementing changes, and doing positive things for the room but are PREVENTED, NOT SUPPORTED, and SUBVERTED from any doing any kind of changes by the 4th floor and city hall. Basically its like the pcos--you might have been happy and enthusiastic about your job when you first got it but now its all about the 1st and 16th when you realize you get no support or resources to do your job. Its the same for them. And a big shoutout to the 3rd watch supervisors and CT. I have personally witnessed at least 3 of them in the past 10 days go to bat for certain employees. They are the very best on any watch!!

The masses don't need to be beaten down everyday over their lazy coworkers in rollcall. It's not the blue collared worker who needs to keep his/her co worker in check as sg would lead us to believe in rollcall. It's the white shirts job to find the problem puppies and correct it. They know who they are. We all know who they are. Fix the problem and stop harping on us. Us being the majority of the room.

the downtown suits are the ones that do not give a crap about us. they are kicking the shit out of ruiz, zofal, argiwhateverthehellhisnameis, shields, oates, simmons, and doyle over ot and changetime stats. simple. they have to do something so they are able to tell the downtown suits they are trying to improve. simple.

Agree with you 150 %. CT is the most fair watch manager 3rd watch has ever had. HANDS DOWN. I'll bet those whining would be the same ones who run around the corner every other day to cry "OH woe is me, CT is PICKING on me again!!" to you-know-who-is-NOT-the-third-watch-manager-anymore.

Hey blogmaster...instead of a thread bashing the hard working, dumped-upon supervisors, let's talk about our co-workers who expect to come to work and get paid for doing next to nothing (and several while on overtime!!!) They do nothing more than steal a paycheck, in my opinion.
