Investigation, Anyone?

Blogmaster, like everyone else at oemc, is waiting to see what action the suits will take regarding the allegations surrounding the deputy director of police operations and a certain watch manager, who was an spco at the time of the alleged impropriety. At the very least one would expect a thorough investigation into the matter. Blogmaster sources indicate that at least one senior suit was personally briefed on the allegations last week, but to date, Blogmaster has not heard that a formal investigation is under way and neither the alleged witness nor the other watch manager (the one who was responsible for the pco, not the recently promoted one who is alleged to have done the deed) have been contacted by any oemc suits or any other "investigators". In fact, sources indicate that the evidence--the tampered documents--are still in a secured location having not yet been requested for inspection in conjunction with any investigation. WTF?????

Think about it. If this were a pco (or a low level union worker) accused of such a serious offense--altering an official city document with the aim of affecting a future outcome-it is likely that termination would already be in progess, BEFORE any such investigation commenced. At the very least, pcos would have been put on some type of leave (think Durkin Park; Ronyale White; etc.) while the incident was being investigated. But for the clouted, the connected, the SUITS the rules are different. Another example of the city failing to adhere by its own stated policies and a glaring example of how the rules are applied inconsistently.

Memo to the suits: a comment from the boss--that would be the ED, ruiz himself-- would be appreciated. Even the standard "the matter is under investigation" would be adequate. It would let everyone know that yes, in fact, management IS aware and IS addressing this issue. If management fails to conduct at least a cursory examination of this incident then every single suit on the 4th floor and the corner office is at fault for derelection of duty and neglect. And for future reference dont expect any improvements on the operations floor, any respect, or anything else. Management inaction will have proven that the fix is in, anyone can get away with anything, and no one running the show here cares. But maybe the media would. Maybe a slick investigative reporter would be interested in these allegations, especially if they are part and parcel of a quid pro quo, and are substantiated.

We need to seek the opinion of an attorney and see if we can't get the media notified as soon as possible. Strike while the iron is hot and not in a few weeks when this is just a distant memory. Think compensation for the harm that was done to you - all these years you were denided a better salary because you were passed over for promotion. Where you could be right now if you had been part of a fair and equal promotional process? Think about what you could have had in your life.

No,lawsuit and no media. The Witness and the supervisor responsible for the employee whose evaluation was altered (without that spo's knowledge) should file a grievance against RS. A CI# will force the suits to at least conduct an investigation to determine the real facts. Once a formal complaint is made there is also a record of the charge.

Formal or informal, a complaint must go forth, however, given the light of how these "so called suits" respond to their own kind it’s hard to believe that any charges will come out of this, at the most maybe a slap on the wrist. The powers that be all have an ego problem, they feel as if they are untouchable and can do whatever they want, whenever they want and to whom ever they want. That’s BULLSHIT, and Ron keep your eyes open because one day your chickens will come home to roost and you will have to answer for you indiscretions, not just as a Deputy Director but also in your former position as a watch manager. Heaven forbid that those who came before you as well as those of your present time should feel the pain of having their ASS handed to them. This day shall come, and you will have to answer to all of your indiscretions. And guess what Ron, this time you won't be able to pass the buck or BULLSHIT your way out of this.

Yours truly

I'm stunned. I had no idea RS hurt so many so deeply. Personally I have never had a problem with him as a watch mgr. I'm not one of his dollies. I have had to talk to him regarding problems I was having with floor supervisors (ahheemmkeating) and was given decent advice on how to deal with it. I've needed a hand with getting approved time off for an important family event, and I will never forget that. He's protected me against a moronic clout heavy field boss and got me out of harms way. I don't ask for much at work. Don't ask to be seated somewhere special, don't complain about who they put me with, attempt to get to work on time and do my job. But on the occasion and it's very rare that I did, I know I could make an appointment to speak to him and he never turned me away.
If these accusations are true, then it's too bad, and time for him to retire. If not, it's even a sadder scenerio that we are working with such vicious people.
He's no angel by far, (I'm not a fool) but I'm sure I'm not the only who he was decent to for no personal gain except to help out his worker. Let's not forget that.
If people wanted to talk lawsuits well you would have needed to have started on that when Trotter came in, and all of the sudden Rev Meeks people were the only ones allowed to work on the fourth floor. This RS situation is peanuts compared to the damage done to us wholly during that era.

unless the media gets involved nothing will happen, the suits will just let it fade away.

Here's an idea.

Since you all are just SO concerned with making sure this doesn't get "swept under the rug," and that it gets fully investigated...then maybe you should put in a call to someone who'll fully investigate it.

Face it...it's not a big ass hill of beans for the media. On a scale of what they'd make a big story out of, this is pretty much a molehill. Believe it or not (and you would, if you stepped outside of the small world of the OEMC on occasion), this is a COMMON issue in the rest of the city, and in the private sector. Getting ahead based on whom you know or do.

If it's true, yes, it's shitty. Yes, it's unethical. Yes, it's illegal. And who investigates allegations of unethical & illegal activity within city government?

The Inspector General. Hard to believe noone's thought of that.

'hard to believe no one has thought of the inspector general'? we work with a bunch of idiots who bitch and moan and just WAIT for shit to change. so of course nobody has thought of that!! if the pco in question here makes supv we should all seriously fucked!!!! but given our workplace, she, of course, is an obvious choice for promotion seeing how she can't work cw, let alone a zone.

Believe it that many of us DO know whats going on outside of oemc That is WHY this is such a big deal because its a microcosm of the city at large and it lends credence to the systmeic and ingrained patterns of corruption and nepotism that exist. People, in this city and state government, have gone to prison and lost their jobs and careers as a result of this type of behavior.
Just because everyone does it does not make it right. And please dont assume that the inspector general HASNT been notified--it is very likely both that office and the federal monitor have been contacted.

I have contacted the IG for another large infraction in the OEMC building and nothing ever came of it. IG probably as dirty as the rest of the lot.
